San Diego skateboarding icons Tony Hawk and Willy Santos will speak at Sports@Lunch on October 14th. Lunch will start at 11:30 and the program will last from approximately noon to 1PM.
San Diego’s own Tony Hawk became a professional skateboarder at the age of 14 and went on to become the greatest skater in history. In addition to being a multiple winner of the National Skateboard Association Championship, Hawk is credited with inventing more than 80 tricks including the “900,” which he first performed at the 1999 ESPN X-Games.
A Mira Mesa native (born in Subic Bay, Philippines), Willy Santos has been skating for 20 years and currently owns Willys Workshop. Santos works with various charities and uses his spare time to assist others via skateboarding. Willy has been a professional skateboarder since he was 15 years old and has been riding for Birdhouse since 1992 (Tony Hawk’s skateboard company). Willy has started a campaign to build a skatepark for the youth of Mira Mesa.
